TGIF

Not much time for anything else, so just a quick Feast!

Appetizer: Say there’s a book written about your life. Who would you want to narrate the audio version?
I guess Julia Robert's - I love her voice even though I'm not a big fan of her as an actress.

Soup: Take the letters from your favorite kind of nut and write a sentence.
Can anyone see how everything works?

Salad: If you could go back in time and spend one week in another decade, which decade would you choose?
I'd say the late 40's - after the war. I love the way everyone dressed, times were a bit simpler. It's also one of my favorite times for movies (though the late 30's were great too).

Main Course: Name a song that brings back memories for you.
Don't You Forget About Me - Simple Minds, takes me right back to high school.

Dessert: Do you prefer to wash your hands in cold water or warm water?
Warm, since I'm cold most of the time it helps warm me up.

It's Friday!

Good News - done with Jury Duty!
Bad News - there is sooooooooooooo much work to catch up on!

So, just a quick second to do this Friday's Feast:

Appetizer: What is your favorite kind of pie?
Oh, that's an easy one - cherry!

Soup: Name something that made you smile this week.
Picking George up at the groomer - she was so pretty and clean and happy to see me! It was nice to have someone be so glad to see me after such a crappy week.

Salad: What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
Does turning up the air conditioner count? Actually the best thing is to take a cool shower, get my hair wet and then sit next to a fan.

Main Course: You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?
Oh jeez - that would be a drop in the home improvement budget! But if I had to do it, I'd probably do a quickie fix up on one of the bathrooms. I'd switch the itty-bitty cabinet for a cool console, replace the scary-crappy tile, put in a new toilet and buy new towels and rugs and paint.

Dessert: Fill in the blank: My _________ says __________, but I __________.
My body says get some sleep, but I have too much to do to go to bed early.

Current Music: Fernando - ABBA (lame, yes, but what can you do)

Boat Night!

Big party tonight! It's the night before the big Port Huron to Mackinac Race, and this is the night that everyone lets loose (though I seriously wonder how all those sailors can manage in the morning - some of them will be out till the wee hours of the night)! But this year is a bit different, we're gaining a designated driver - Scott is joining the race! J's boat is down a crew member, so Scott jumped into the breach. It's been 20 years since he's raced, but he's pretty stoked. So we'll need to make it a bit of an early evening so that Scott isn't too bleary eyed or hung-over tomorrow (though there's no reason why I can't be!).

At this point our schedule is totally booked for the day and evening. We're going to take the boat out with J & M and the kids and look at all the boats this afternoon, then we're hitting the parties around 6:30 (I know we'll be hitting the Yacht Club and the Vintage Tavern - I'm not sure what else!). It should be a bit chilly, but it will be a fun evening - looking forward to it!

My mom just called - apparently they were awakened by an earthquake this morning! The last two times I've been home there have been small quakes, wonder if this means I need to go home?

Oh yeah - and it's Friday - so here's a Friday's Feast:
Appetizer: On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do enjoy watching sports on television?
3, there are very few sports that translate well to TV - I am a fan of going to the game

Soup: If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick?
Hmmm, this is a tough one - the thing that first came to mind was T.S. Elliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. It's a collection of poems about cats that they based the musical Cats on. I'm not a huge fan of T.S. Elliot or Cats, though I love my cats, but they are wonderful poems and I can't really see the use of memorizing a novel. Somehow it just seems right to memorize poetry.

Salad: What is your favorite breakfast food?
That one is easy - my favorite would be Eggs Benedict.

Main Course: Name something fun you can do for less than $10.00.
Jeeze, there's not much - but I guess go to the movies (as long as you don't buy popcorn). I like to go to our local paper store and crop - that only costs $10, but it's not for everyone!

Dessert: How long does it usually take you to fall asleep?
Usually about a half an hour, I've got to read for a while. It's a rare night that I just lay down and sleep.

Seriously - I have no time for this

Ok, I really don't have time for this - I've got a ton of work today and I'm trying to leave early so I can "go do something fun" with my mom before she leaves. But of course I couldn't resist!

Appetizer: How many pieces of jewelry do you wear most days?
11 - 5 earrings, 3 rings, bracelet, watch and belly button ring (sure I'm old, but I've had it a really long time - way before it was cool!)

Soup: What is your favorite instrumental song?
I like a lot of classical music, so I couldn't really narrow it down. I'm not really sure if there are any "popular" songs that are instrumental anyway.

Salad: Who has a last name that you like?
I really liked my maiden name, but if I had to pick a new one I really like Beckham - not because of the Spice Girls reunion, and not because I like either Posh or Beckham, it just sounds good.

Main Course: Name a popular movie you’ve never seen.
That's way to hard - there are tons, but the first two that came to mind were Crash and Fight Club. I know Fight Club is old, but we were just talking about it the other day.

Dessert: Fill in the blank: Nothing makes me ___________ like ____________.
Nothing makes me homesick like talking to my nieces on the phone.

Current Music: Apologize - Timbaland

Happy Friday!

So I stumbled upon a cool blog Friday's Feast - a meme of five questions. Kind of a fun idea - so I'll give it a go today.

Appetizer: Name a funny habit you have.
I twist my wedding rings around my finger when I'm stressed out. (Not very funny, but I can't really think of many habits I've got).

Soup: If you could instantly know how to play a musical instrument, which one would you pick?
Trombone or piano - always loved the trombone for some crazy reason, but the idea of being able to play the piano seems really cool too.

Salad: How long is your hair?
3-4 inches past my shoulders, not sure how long that makes it, but it's not short.

Main Course: When was the last time you forgave someone, and who was it?
I'm never really all that mad at people and I try not to hold a grudge (seems like wasted energy), so I'd have to say a week or two ago I got over being mad at my husband for being a jerk - see, nothing major.

Dessert: What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
Refrigerator - love that it's got all the food in it!

Current Music: Wild is the Wind - The Second Band
