Shhh, it's a Secret

I have a secret for you, and it's really good - and the best part is that it's not mine!

Well before my sister and her husband were married or even dating, he and I went skinny-dipping in a druken stooper one night. We did "hook-up", but that was all. He would "casually" bring it up to me in the following weeks, months and once or twice a year. Once he started dating my sister, it was never discussed again. If she ever found out, I know her marriage and our relationship would be over. It would not matter that it was well before (5 years) they ever got together. He knows about it, I know about it and my best friend knows. We will ALL take it to our graves.
In case you're wondering whose juicy little tidbit that is, the answer is I don't know. Today there are 90 some-odd bloggers taking part in "Blog Secret" a fantastic idea of Nilsa's (feel free to check out the list of participants on her blog). We've all exchanged secrets and are posting them for one another.

So my secret is out there somewhere, and I'm not sure where - and I'm kind of ok with that!

Gah! Totally cool! But I'm supposed to be in bed already so I can't go over there yet tonight. I'm so going tomorrow!

Yeah...probably a good idea not to discuss it. So long as he's not cheating on her with you or anything, I don't think she ought to know.

Yes. I have a similar situation in my life. Ever see those TV Sitcoms where the girl introduces her new boyfriend to her best friend, and the boyfriend and best friend realize they know each other.

Yep. That happened to me. How do you tell your best friend that you ALREADY slept with her boyfriend? The "off limits" rule cant be retroactive, can it?

The boyfriend and I discussed it, and we pretend it didn't happen. Some things you just don't bring up. I'm not promoting the idea of lying, but hey, its going to hurt her...eternally.

I have no attraction to this guy anymore, but regardless.

I think I just let out ANOTHER secret, haha :)

wow. well in that case, for your sake, i hope she never finds out....

Wow, I think that'd be a tough secret to carry around. Good luck!

What they don't know won't hurt 'em... now if he ever brings it up now that he's married...that's not cool...

Oof, that's one of those secrets that could turn someone's world upside down. I hope it never gets leaked in real life!

Silence is a virtue. Some things are better left unsaid. Taking it to the grave sounds like the best idea for all concerned.

Oooohh good one! It's probably best to not bring it up. But also - it seems like your sister is pretty insecure if this would end her marriage!

A close friend of mine hooked up with my boyfriend about a year before he and I started dating. She didn't tell me. He did, when we started dating, because we wanted to be on the up and up with everything. And it to this day pisses me off. But not to the point where I can't still be friends with her. I can't change the past, and he and I are strong and solid in our relationship, so why does it matter now, 4 years later?

Now that's kind of hot. I like this story very much.

To the anonymous writer - what a heavy thing to carry. I hope you feel a little liberated by putting it out there.

Mandy Lou - I didn't email you with a link to your host blogger? Whaaaaa? Lemme know if that's true and I'll send it to you pronto!

That is a shame that your relationship with your sister and her marriage would be over. Would it just be because you guys kept it a secret for so long? It seems silly, it was long before they even met...
Or maybe I am just biased because I slept with a guy who is now married to a friend I fixed him up with! Hee!

Call me crazy, but I have a hunch it won't be as easy to keep the cat in the bag forever as it has been so far. I hate to see anyone get hurt by this, but it seems like what's more likely to hurt is the fact that it was kept a secret so long.

oh wow. i guess some things are better left unsaid...

I think that is one of those things you just NEVER bring up. You weren't malicious, it was coincidental that they happened to meet and start dating, so... yes. Look back, love it, and keep moving forward. Thanks for sharing!

Kudos to you all for being able to keep in a secret and just recognize it as an isolated event.

hmmmm, I'm torn on this one. I don't think sis should have a problem with it since it was before they were dating. However, it's been THIS long and NO ONE has said anything yet? Now it's kind of like...well why'd you wait so long, what are you hiding?

Sticky.

Since I am a whore for attention I thought I would come over here and reveal myself as the nose picking, porn loving, binge eating, drunk whose post you were so kind to comment on yesterday. Thanks for the comment love!

Wow, at first I thought that was YOUR secret and was wondering why you would write about it on your blog. Didn't your sister find out about your secret blog?
Then I realized it wasn't you secret. Sigh.

Holy Cow 18 comments, way to bring attention to your blog.
